15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

Report findings and Draw Conclusions:
Throughout the three interviews, I was realizing that my product (a designer shoe and clothing store in Gainesville, FL) may not be very successful. My first interview was with Denise who was very helpful and gave me strong advice on my product. She claims that I should look into taking my store into a more higher income part of Florida such as a city like Orlando. By taking my store to a city like Orlando, I will be more open to wealthy tourists that come from all over the world looking for the particular products that I am planning to sell.
My second interview was not as helpful in terms of business advice, however, it was a more motivational talk that persuaded me to keep following my dreams. I think that this was my favorite interview out of the three even though it did not mention anything about my product and my overall idea. However, my second interview led me to believe that I should follow the path of branching my store in different parts of Florida once I reach the success that I need to fund this campaign. My second interviewer did mention a technique of marketing this business on the internet with other shoe and retail stores that are very successful within this industry.
Altogether, these three additional interviews offered me more insight on what other non-fashionista people would think of my store and how they would consider ever going to my store. I should test out this business in Gainesville, FL to see the demand and possible success that this product holds. Although there are strong competitors out there like RoundTwo, I think if I start now that I will be not too far behind against others in this industry. The buying behavior of my product will definitely vary among how much income someone has because the products I will be selling will be very high due to low supply of the original products that I will be trying to sell to consumers.

  1. Hi Matthew,
I really enjoyed reading about your three interviews for figuring out buyer behavior number two. While I love the idea of a designer shoe store in Gainesville, the findings of your interviews about it possibly not being successful in Gainesville are likely accurate. Given the fact that Gainesville is not a very high income area, I have to agree that there are better locations to open your store.

  2. Hey Matthew!

I thought that this was a really good post, you seemed to have three very distinct interviews that helped you identify consumer behavior. It was also nice to see that each interview gave you insight on how to market your product, and how they will react to certain situations. I think with this information you can surely propel your product further. I also liked how you concluded by setting a market to test, however make sure the residents of Gainesville are representative of your overall customers.
