16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Five ways in which I think I have Human Capital:

1. Ambitious- When I am not sleeping, I am always determined to find the path to success that will make me wealthy and happy.
2. Fearless- I am not afraid to make mistakes, I view everything in life as an opportunity to become a better person, whether this means physically or emotionally.
3. Optimistic- One of my best personal traits is that I always have an open ear to what people have to say that is something positive and or helpful. I will always take others opinions and or criticism that will impact my future the best.
4. Creative- Whenever completing a task that I am unsure of, I always come up with a way that approaches the problem successfully.
5. Relentless- I never take NO for an answer. If there is something I do not know, I will be sure to find the answer. I am always hunting for the gold star that will allow me to turn my dreams into a reality.

Interviews:

1. My mom thinks that I should have included honest in my post. She thinks honesty is a great trait that anyone should have who wants to become a leader in the business field.
2. My oldest sister believes that I am definitely relentless because of the opportunities that I have not turned down that I was initially unsure of. She stated being fearless relates to how relentless one is.

3. My stepfather understood that he has seen me develop into the five traits listed above over the years of knowing me. He agreed with the 5 traits that I selected for this assignment.

4. My younger sister believes that I could work on my creativity level some more. I think she means this in a bad way because we have always competed against each other over the years!

5. My dad argues that being optimistic is hard to develop at such a young age. He also defines it in a different way then I do.

Reflection:
After the interviews will the people closest to me, they all felt pretty much the same about the five traits that I listed of human capital. This was not surprising to me because I have grown up with my family and they know me the best as a person. However, it will be interesting to see if I lose some of these traits in the future or grow more in one direction as a person. I would not make any adjustments to my list because these were the first five that came to my mind, so they mean the most to me.

  1. Hey Matthew,

I really enjoyed hearing about all of the nice things your family had to say about you. It is especially interesting that they listed the same five traits that you did. I feel like this assignment was a really nice confidence booster considering we got to ask those closest to us to discuss our best qualities. Its great that you were able to ask your immediate family!

    Sincerely,

    Ayla Adams

  2. Hi Matthew.
I love it that your mother thinks you should include honesty to your list of human capital. Honesty is a trait that will guide you in your life/career endeavors. I agree with you about your sister's thoughts about your creativity and maybe she was trying to spice up your interview. I also see that you view yourself as relentless which is something I did not include on my list but that my family said about me. Keep up the great work.
