Assignment 9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2
- Who: After concluding my interviews, I concluded that there is most likely a large amount of people who are outside of my intended market that my opportunity exists for. These individuals who fall outside of my market would be the vast majority of students who live on campus and that do not have to ride the bus as much as an off-campus student. Three of my interviewees currently ride the bus consistently throughout the week and cannot avoid living off-campus due to the expense of living closer to the university. However, four out of the five interviewees agreed that the University should provide more parking spots or garages for students who have to commute to class everyday from their apartment off-campus.
- Furthermore, this opportunity led to the idea of the variety of off-campus parking regulations that this pertains to. For example, students parents who come from across the nation are limited to where they can park from 8:30AM-4:30PM for most parking locations across campus. As a result, parents are becoming more frustrated with the parking regulations and do not see how paying so much for their kids to attend UF that parking is so heavily restricted.
- What: All five of my interviewees mentioned that the ability for UF to provide more parking would definitely help the stress levels of off-campus students, but the real problem of no parking lots will most likely not be affected for years to come. However, what could happen with more parking is the ability for more dangers of students and or students taking advantage and doing reckless things in parking lots.
- Why: I believe that the need is not totally necessary, but UF could be available to increased profits from students that would be willing to pay for better parking on campus to avoid having to ride the bus system every day of the week. It is the matter of this issue being resolved if we will see the demand increase for the chance to have better access to parking on campus.
Who: Inside the Boundary Outside the Boundary
-Off-campus students who want -Off-campus students who don't care
better parking lots.
Students who live far from UF -Freshman students who live on campus
What: -To help avoid riding the bus -To eliminate the commute of bus ride
-Avoid rain/cold weather
Why: - Not everyone who lives off-campus dislikes riding the bus system.
- Other alternatives, buying a bike or a moped.
-On-campus students need more parking due to living away from home.
Hey Matthew,
ReplyDeleteYour idea here is really good and I think a ton of people would use this around campus. I think your thought that this wouldn't just include students who live off campus could be a little flawed, only because parking is already lifted for non-students and visitors over weekends and after the day is over. Otherwise, great job.
