8A – Solving The Problem

So my opportunity/product relates to the common issue of no parking on or near campus for students who live off-campus that attend the University of Florida. Most students who live off-campus have the everyday hasle of commuting on the bus system in conditions of rain or below freezing temperatures in so-called the city of  Rainesville. As a result, students must leave hours earlier from their home in order to get to their class on time or to not be late for their job after class when leaving. I would like for the University of Florida to offer or to build more garages with just open grass fields for students who live off-campus to park at, either for a fee/premium or for FREE! However, with this I would assume that students would have to pay for this parking opportunity, which most students would opt for due to the time and money it would save them. Overall, I think the idea of offering decals for students who live off-ca...

7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

On Campus Parking for UF Students who live Off-Campus Opportunity: Every day of the week, thousands of off-campus students are faced with long bus commutes to their classes that can be combined with poor weather conditions, with a final result of being late to work or class. The who: All UF students who live off-campus. The what: They are victims of being late to class or getting rained on. The why: The use of off-campus parking being limited to only parking at the museum. Testing the who: The who in this opportunity is pretty obvious. It is any student who cannot afford to live on-campus or any student who has an apartment that is more convenient to them for other reasons. The majority of the "who" is students who have been riding the bus for years and are tired of this boring commute in either cold or rainy conditions. Testing the what: Students living off-campus are faced with a twenty minute bus ride towards campus or even longer depending on traffic. As a res...

6A – Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Economic Opportunities: 1. On bea.gov I read that the real gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2018 increased by 3.4%. This is a solid growth rate that is not expanding too fast and not too slow. However, there could be an opportunity as we move into 2019 to follow some of the same trends as last year although we are currently seeing the government shut down. The customer with the most opportunity would be someone who is wealthy enough to boost the US economy. This is a difficult opportunity to exploit because we need the entire nation to participate in this activity and there are so many different factors that contribute to this GDP growth or decline. 2. Health care costs are elevating since the elimination of Obamacare since 2019. As a result, insurance companies are having higher operating costs to deal with. The customer at stake would be anyone who is sick and needs health insurance to survive and these insurance companies will not be able to provide as much...

5A- Identifying Local Opportunities

Opportunities (The Miami Herald) 1.    New cruise ships need thousands of workers. Here's how companies fill those jobs https://infoweb-newsbank-com.lp.hscl.ufl.edu/apps/news/document-view?p=WORLDNEWS&t=pubname%3AMIHB%21Miami%2BHerald%252C%2BThe%2B%2528FL%2529/year%3A2019%212019/mody%3A0121%21January%2B21&f=advanced&action=browse&format=text&docref=news/171176097785D630 Description of Story: The article begins by stating the growing interest of consumers purchasing vacations on cruise lines. As a result, cruise line companies are having to recruit new employees to fill cooking, housekeeping, and personal attendants. The article continues by detailing what parts of the world they intend to hire people from, the number of people they need, the skills they need to develop and some of the conditions workers have to deal with while working. Description of Problem : The problem in this article is the needing of hiring thousands of qualified workers and ...

4A- Forming an Opportunity Belief

My Belief: An unmet need that exists in relation to The University of Florida is the access to parking closer to classrooms for students who live off-campus. Currently, the University only offers Park-And-Ride services where one has to park near the Harn Museum and ride on the bus for a good 10-15 minutes towards the campus in either the cold or rainy days. This unmet need targets any student who cannot afford to live on campus or someone who does not have an automobile to get to campus. This need for more convenient parking has not been around and should be offered for by the university for students who have jobs to attend at a certain hour by the easy solution of building more parking lots or zoning grass lots. I am almost 75% sure that the opportunity for more parking areas for off-campus students is in need by almost the whole majority of those who qualify for this need. Prototypical Customer Reflections: Questions I asked: 1.) How long have you rode the RTS and would you l...

3A- Your Entrepreneurship Story

Image
A time in my life when I have been exposed to entrepreneurship was last year when my cousin presented his app available for iPhone and Android, called NILI. He explained that it was a night life app that when opened you are exposed to activities, clubs, or events that are popular attractions for tourists according to your location. Through this app primarily college students, one can pay for tickets, drinks, and or reserve a seat/table for a night out in the city. I was very impressed with my cousins entrepreneurial abilities and it came as a shock that he created such a unique and trendy app. However, his app was not a huge success and he later had to transition into a different marketplace to find a sturdier source of income. Through trial and error he came up with his passion in life and is now very successful. This experience was very beneficial to myself because it inspired me that anyone can do what they have a passion for, whether that may be becoming a surgeon or designing an a...

2A- Bug List

Bu gs: 1 . When I come home from a long day of work/school and I have to get out of my car and open the front door to the house instead of the garage being already opened.        -This bug exists because of poor communication with my roommates and poor planning between all of our schedules. 2. When the resell value of sneakers that I have bought to make a profit off of declines to no profit.        -This bug exists because of too much supply of the sneaker making it easier to get for everyone. 3 .  When my anxiety reaches new and uncomfortable levels for starting a new semester at UF.        I believe this exists because I am still developing my social confidence, etc. 4.   When it is near the end of the day and I realize I did not remember to bring a cellphone charger.        -This bug exists because I never think my battery will die out as fast as it should. 5.   Walking down t...
