16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Five ways in which I think I have Human Capital: 1. Ambitious- When I am not sleeping, I am always determined to find the path to success that will make me wealthy and happy. 2. Fearless- I am not afraid to make mistakes, I view everything in life as an opportunity to become a better person, whether this means physically or emotionally. 3. Optimistic- One of my best personal traits is that I always have an open ear to what people have to say that is something positive and or helpful. I will always take others opinions and or criticism that will impact my future the best. 4. Creative- Whenever completing a task that I am unsure of, I always come up with a way that approaches the problem successfully. 5. Relentless- I never take NO for an answer. If there is something I do not know, I will be sure to find the answer. I am always hunting for the gold star that will allow me to turn my dreams into a reality. Interviews: 1. 15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

Report findings and Draw Conclusions:               Throughout the three interviews, I was realizing that my product (a designer shoe and clothing store in Gainesville, FL) may not be very successful. My first interview was with Denise who was very helpful and gave me strong advice on my product. She claims that I should look into taking my store into a more higher income part of Florida such as a city like Orlando. By taking my store to a city like Orlando, I will be more open to wealthy tourists that come from all over the world looking for the particular products that I am planning to sell.               My second interview was not as helpful in terms of business advice, however, it was a more motivational talk that persuaded me to keep following my dreams. I think that this was my favorite interview out of the three even though it did not mention anything about my product and my overall idea. However, m...

14A – Halfway Reflection

Tenaciousness is a competency.  What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? Some behaviors that I have used in relation to succeed in ENT3003 is working according to a strict schedule along with proper time management skills. This class requires students to work outside of the box and actually become involved with each individual assignment throughout each week with ways of meeting new people and uploading YouTube videos. Furthermore, I have had to become more social in relation to finding interviewees for a lot of these assignments and it has allowed me to focus more on what I want to do with my life goals. 2. Tenaciousness is also about attitude.  Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?  I...

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

I read Phil Knight's Shoe Dog. What surprised you the most?   I would say what surprised me the most from this autobiography was the reasoning behind of the Nike swoosh and what it means to the culture of streetwear. The fact that the meaning is so simple as to the sound of someone going past you really seemed like it couldn't represent a billion dollar brand that easily with that so simple of a meaning. I am an avid Nike customer and for twenty years of living I never actually knew what the swoosh meant. What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?   What I most admire about Phil Knight is that he is not afraid to take risks even when he feels a sense of doubt. What started off as a trip to Japan with a borrowing of $1,000 from his father, lead to one of the most iconic fashion brands in the world. Furthermore, Phil illustrates someone who has everlasting passion for what he does and how he was able to surround himself with other "Shoe Dogs" who helped him ...

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Choosing a segment: For this assignment, I chose the segment of students in their low 20s who are concerned with the amount of money they have in order to survive. These students all have part-time jobs that pay for their rent, car, and food expenses. I interviewed three people total, two guys and one girl who all had a strong passion for fashion. The first male (Jackson) has over fifty pairs of sneakers that add up over thousands of dollars. The second male (Ricky) enjoys fashion but decides to purchase cheaper clothing because he cannot really afford the hyped items these days. The female (Anna) enjoys shopping online because she likes having what other girls do not have here in Gainesivlle, FL. Interviews: I ultimately learned that the demand for my store would be very high according to these three very similar individuals who all love shopping and high-end brands like Louis Vuitton and Gucci. They all agree that they cannot afford buying brand new pieces from either Gucci or ...

11A – Idea Napkin No. 1

Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life? My name is Matthew Stevenson. I am a senior at the University of Florida studying Business Management with a minor in retail. I am a big fashionista who enjoys collecting articles of clothing and shoes. I have a lot of work experience in both retail and IP legal studies. If I were to start a new business concept it would be a consignment shop here in Gainesville, FL where "hypebeasts" can buy and sell shoes and clothing like Supreme. 2. What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).  I would be offering to customers a "one of a kind" store here in Gainesville that aims towards a college town. In particular, this store would drag in many...

Assignment 9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who: After concluding my interviews, I concluded that there is most likely a large amount of people who are outside of my intended market that my opportunity exists for.  These individuals who fall outside of my market would be the vast majority of students who live on campus and that do not have to ride the bus as much as an off-campus student. Three of my interviewees currently ride the bus consistently throughout the week and cannot avoid living off-campus due to the expense of living closer to the university. However, four out of the five interviewees agreed that the University should provide more parking spots or garages for students who have to commute to class everyday from their apartment off-campus. Furthermore, this opportunity led to the idea of the variety of off-campus parking regulations that this pertains to. For example, students parents who come from across the nation are limited to where they can park from 8:30AM-4:30PM for most parking locations across campu...
