22A – Elevator Pitch No. 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qmhPGnoccs&t=6s 2. I received some great feedback from my last Elevator Pitch that I think made this one the best one yet! They recommended to adjust the background and to speak at a more formal pace which seemed as the most insightful. I really liked how I kept my tone at a very professional level because it seemed as if I was speaking to class of 20+ people instead of just to a camera lens. 3. So I changed the background for this Elevator Pitch, adjusted the camera eye level a little, and used less hand gestures. Although my classmates did not recommend all three of these, I wanted to change them myself because it would ultimately turn out better. This is one of my favorite assignments from this class because it has built my speaking confidence!

21A – Reading Reflection No. 2

I chose to read Thinking Fast And Slow by  Daniel Kahneman 1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?       -The general theme of the book would be to double check everything twice and to not let one's brain overtake both the physical and mental states of one's body. It is essential to make sure that you view every option on a particular decision with open opinions on everything that could affect the final result. Overall, mistakes will always happen no matter what someone is doing. It is essential to regain the confidence to perform to one's best efficiency to make sure that you continue to accomplish one's goals for the future experiences that one deals with. The human brain is so powerful, and the way it operates in different situations can affect the rest of your day.  2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?        -In this class, I have learned to doub...

20A – Growing Your Social Capital

20A – Growing Your Social Capital Domain Expert: 1) Who they are and what their background is. Gary Kulla. Owner of Target Music down in South Florida for over 20 years. 2) Which 'slot' you are filling with each person (i.e., domain expert, market expert, supplier), and how the person fills the spot. He has had his own music business that he started from the guidance of a mutual friend that knew what was popular at the time. 3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person. He is my Step Uncle that I have known for over ten years now. I keep in contact so I just gave him a call the other day this week. 4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation?  I discussed with him my idea of opening up my own business that would focus on shoes and designer clothing. He said that anything is possible if you keep your heart and mind set on the ultimate goal that you want to achieve....

Assignment 19A – Idea Napkin No. 2

Assignment 19A – Idea Napkin No. 2 Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life? My name is Matthew Stevenson. I have concluded after talking to five people close to me that I am very passionate and caring for others. Most importantly, I have a talent for noticing someone else's feelings and being able to put a smile on that persons face when they are down. I am definitely someone with soft feelings that I am still trying to strengthen in order to aviod times of feeling disappointed or timid. On the other hand, if I were to start this business concept up, it would make my life 10 times better than it is now. I would be following my childhood dream and most importantly it would develop my communication skills, and business experience. What are you offering to customers? Describe the produc...

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

For this assignment, I will focus on one of my great friends, Nick who I have known since sophomore year of high school. Nick currently lives in South Florida and is a senior at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). He is 21 years old and is an avid sneaker enthusiast with many pairs in his collection. Being a full-time student with no part time job, Nick has not been able to purchase all of the shoes that he really wants. As a result, he can either beg his parents for some money (which rarely happens anymore) or buy and resell pieces of clothing or shoes to put towards to a shoe that he would like to have and wear. He drives his Honda Accord for his commute to campus from his off-campus apartment. Nick is very focused on his studies at FGCU and is also part of a soccer club. Through this soccer experience he has been able to meet new people that have the same interest of high-end shoes.             ...

17A – Elevator Pitch No. 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNVTeELe4sI&t=7s Reflection of Feedback: I received wonderful amounts of feedback from my classmates. However, whenever I get the second chance to do something, I will always try my best to make it my better attempt at it. I feel like my classmates could have been little bit more harsh on my first elevator pitch, but I really appreciated each comment that I received! What I Changed Based On My Feedback:  I decided to make the camera angle at eye level, adjust the lighting to a more contemporary mood, and to speak in a more enjoyable tone and not so loud for this elevator speech. Lastly, I tried to hook my audience with a better opening sentence instead of just getting right to the point. I would have liked to not have the pauses in the pitch and eliminate the use of words like "Umm", but I am still proud of the final product :)
